The Impact You’ll Make in this Role- Work with global Application Engineering, Product Development, Sales, and Marketing personnel to develop and replicate high‑impact bonding applications for the IATD Thin Bonding portfolio.
- Identify the best 3M solution for an application by thoroughly understanding the customer need, testing, and analyzing results. Communicate results to customers and the global application engineering team through written reports and presentations.
- Provide launch support for new product programs by generating supporting documentation, demonstration tools, videos, and training materials.
- Build a deep understanding of customer needs and competition for the double‑coated tapes, foam tapes, and fastening market, and provide “Voice of Customer,” new product ideas and competitive analysis.
- Diagnose customer application issues and help solve them in an expeditious manner.
- Willingness to participate in early morning or evening meetings with a global team.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.
- Three (3) years of experience working with polymers or adhesives in a private, public, government or military environment.
- Two (2) years of experience in Application Engineering.
- Current, valid Driver’s License.
- Masters or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science from an accredited institution.
- Five (5) years of experience in Application Engineering.
- On‑site work model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.
- May include up to 20% domestic/international travel.

Compensation and BenefitsExpected compensation range: $124,127 - $151,710, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. The offered compensation may vary based on factors including relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and experience. Eligible benefits include Medical, Dental & Vision, Health Savings Accounts, Health Care & Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, Disability Benefits, Life Insurance, Voluntary Benefits, Paid Absences and Retirement Benefits.
