Fairview is looking for a Registered Nurse on the Med/Surg Neurology Unit n’s Hospital in Maplewood, MN. Open to new grad RNs!
ScheduleThis role is a .7 FTE (56 hours) per pay period, 8‑hour night shifts with every other weekend rotation. Variable schedule.

About This UnitThere are 31 beds on this unit which sees a little bit of everything. We see on average about 30 patients a day and turn half of their beds within a day. On the Med/Surg side, they are a medical telemetry unit, and they support a variety of surgeries and also specialty surgeries including bowel resections, amputations, and complex wound care.
On the Neuro/Telemetry side they provide care to patients that have had a transient ischemic attack (TIA), stroke, confusion, seizures and VP shunt placement. Nurses are Stroke Certified through the Joint Commission. This position has the opportunity to acquire Med/Surg or Neuro certifications.
- The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act.
- The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.
- Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
- Collaborates with patient, family and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care.
- Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition and other relevant needs.
- Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
- Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care.
- Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
- Promotes a culture of evidence based practice (EBP).
- Basic Life Support (American Heart Association or Red Cross)
- MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- 1 year experience
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (American Heart Association). Some positions may require ACLS depending on the unit and patient population.
