Fairview is looking for a Nursing Station Technician/Monitor Tech to join our St. John’s Hospital team in Maplewood, MN. This position is 56 hours per two weeks on the Night shift, for 8 hour shifts, with an every other weekend rotation. The hospital offers a warm, inviting atmosphere and innovative technology to support patient care in our 184‑bed facility.
Job OverviewSt. John’s offers a growing ICU with 20 beds, encompassing medical/surgical and cardiac specialties. The role functions under nursing personnel to provide patient care and unit coordination.
Responsibilities- Assist patients with personal cares, bathing, feeding, ambulation, and exercise.
- Monitor vitals and chart readings; interpret ECG heart rhythm and report abnormalities.
- Perform delegated nursing functions, including specimen collection and blood glucose monitoring.
- Observe cardiac monitors and report changes to the professional nurse.
- Prepare and maintain medication and equipment supplies, ensuring infection control practices.
- Maintain unit cleanliness and order in patient rooms, central desk, and supply areas.
- Collect and document care provided, ensuring accurate, timely medical record transcription.
- Schedule and coordinate patient tests and procedures, communicating with other departments.
- Manage unit communication systems, record scheduled tests on kardex, and respond to phone calls following guidelines.
- Provide courier and escort services for patients.
- Assess and document patient condition changes, respond to emergencies, and assist nurses in monitoring patients.
- Engage patients and families, maintaining confidentiality and using the established communication system.
- Participate in staff orientation and development, sharing knowledge of policies and procedures.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.
- Six months of recent direct care experience in a long‑term, home‑care, or acute‑care setting (e.g., nursing assistant, PCA, resident assistant, ER technician).
- Or current enrollment in an LPN, RN, or Nurse Practitioner program with at least one semester of clinical rotation.
- Or current MN Nursing Assistant Registry certification upon hire (no need to maintain).
- ICU nursing assistant experience.
- HUC experience or completion of HUC training course.
- Telemetry experience.
