Job Overview
The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership who is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store as well as the general operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Area Supervisors open and close the Store, supervise Associates, maintain a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment, and ensure proper merchandise presentation and cleanliness.
Essential Functions- Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
- Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors.
- Maintains awareness on the sales floor and reports unsafe conditions.
- Manages building security including entrance/exit control, EAS devices, Cash Office security, armored carrier pick‑ups and register area.
- Removes clutter and ensures clear egress to emergency exits.
- Ensures customer safety including accident prevention and emergency procedures.
- Tests fire alarm systems as scheduled and responds to after‑hours alarms when requested.
- Customer Service
- Treats all Customers, Associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrates courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
- Recognizes Associates using company recognition programs.
- Personal and Store Brand
- Represents and supports the Company brand.
- Maintains a professional appearance in accordance with the Company Dress Code and ensures Associates do the same.
- Keeps all store areas clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.
- Responsible for daily trash removal.
- General Merchandising
- Ensures recovery, sizing and markdowns are completed to Company standards.
- Receives merchandise trucks when needed and processes all merchandise with a sense of urgency.
- Handles all non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of all stockrooms.
- Helps deliver and place merchandise on the sales floor.
- Ensures back‑stock is secured and processed to policy.
- Manages department merchandising and loss reduction.
- Ensures compliance with monthly presentation guidelines.
- Manages floor moves and promotional signing, and re‑wraps as needed.
- Loss Prevention
- Supports Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintains a customer service presence on the floor.
- Safeguards confidential information, cash and credit card information and merchandise.
- Maintains the Public View Monitor system.
- Conducts “Code 50’’ package inspections.
- Executes best practices to maximize productivity.
- Front End Supervision and Operations
- Executes best practices to maximize productivity and ensures Associates meet Company standards at the front end.
- Maintains pace, energy and presence, managing the line to expedite customer wait time.
- Trains and coaches Associates on cash registers, shortage control policies and other front‑end procedures.
- Controls Retail Associates’ break schedule for backups, lunches and breaks.
- Ensures all equipment and supplies are working properly.
- Ensures go‑backs are expedited, properly scanned, security tagged and ticketed.
- Teaches all Associates the “Scan and Bag” best practice.
- Ensures salability of merchandise on the front end and specialty racks.
- Fitting Rooms
- Maintains and cleans fitting rooms.
- Audits fitting room garment tags and ensures compliance.
- Ensures go‑back compliance for all returned merchandise.
- Administrative Duties as Assigned by Store Manager
- Conducts cash pulls and bank deposits.
- Controls front end when needed, adhering to refund, purchase and cash‑security policies.
- Handles payroll administration including daily punch edits, scheduling compliance and payroll transmission.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations common in retail.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC.
