Staff Accountant (Temp-to-Hire)

Location: Maplewood, NJ (Hybrid)

Our client, a growing and collaborative organization in the Maplewood, NJ area, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team on a temp-to-hire basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to expand their experience in a hands-on role with the potential for long-term employment.

• Process customer invoices, vendor payments, and cash receipts.
• Review and code accounts payable invoices while ensuring proper approvals.
• Maintain accurate vendor and customer records within the accounting system.
• Assist with month-end and quarter-end close activities, including account reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Prepare financial analyses and reports for management.
• Support quarterly inventory counts and related accounting activities.
• Assist with annual audits by preparing requested documentation.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and local, state, and federal reporting requirements.
• Research and resolve vendor and customer account discrepancies.
• Maintain organized accounting records and documentation.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3-5 years of hands-on accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
• Experience with Sage 100 is preferred.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
