Position: S4/10 SECRETARY

Middle School Guidance Secretary, S-4

The candidate must have proficient secretarial skills and a high degree of computer literacy that includes the use of Microsoft Word applications and Google applications. Must possess strong organizational skills; be able to multitask and work under pressure. Must have the ability to interact with the general public with extreme tact, discretion and diplomacy. Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The qualifications include:

  • High school graduate, college diploma a plus.
  • Computer proficiency required.
  • Strong clerical abilities.
  • Well organized and detail oriented.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High energy level.
  • Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident/immigrant status.

Starting salary range: $48,520 - $57,520.

Job description:

Position title:

Middle School Guidance Secretary, S-4

Reports to:

Middle School Principal

Job goals:

To effectively organize the operations of the guidance office and to assist in guidance department-related and school-based functions.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining and updating student permanent records.
  • Processing new student information and notifying staff of incoming students.
  • Creating and maintaining a schedule for the usage of the guidance office conference room.
  • Maintaining weekly schedules for team meetings with parents.
  • Contacting parents, arranging meetings, and creating contracts for Contract for Choice.
  • Maintaining IEP and 504 plan records.
  • Coordinating Interim Reports.
  • Coordinating the Principals' Breakfast and other school awards programs.
  • Coordinating 5th to 6th grade transition programs.
  • Assisting in the student scheduling process.
  • Creating and mailing level notification letters to parents.
  • Maintaining a warm, welcoming atmosphere within the guidance office.
  • Assisting guidance staff and social worker with reasonable requests for clerical and program support.

Terms of employment: 10 months salary and benefits per SOMEA Agreement.
