Position Overview

This 9th‑grade Biology Teacher will teach the Freshman Academy curriculum and inspire a diverse student body with a love of STEM. The teacher will join a collaborative team supporting experienced or novice Biology teachers.

Qualifications
  • NJ Teacher of Biology certificate.
  • Experience and passion for teaching diverse students.
  • Teaching experience at academic, honors, or AP biology levels.
  • Ability to work on a collaborative, passionate team.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging biology lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Develop and implement curriculum, instructional materials, and assessments aligned with NJ Science standards.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment conducive to academic and personal growth.
  • Pass a criminal background check and provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal residency.
Job Description

Reports to Principal/Supervisor of STEM.

Job Goal(s)

Provide instructional leadership in the classroom in accordance with the approved curriculum.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Implement instruction to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives.
  • Employ instructional methods and available materials that are appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
  • Assess student performance on a continuing basis and provide progress reports as required.
  • Identify students who require additional support services.
  • Communicate with colleagues, students, and parents.
  • Maintain high expectations for student performance and behavior.
  • Engage in professional development activities to enhance instructional practices.
  • Participate in appropriate building and district meetings.
  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
