The Position

Candidates should have experience working in a special education classroom or resource room setting, with behavior modification experience. They should desire to work cooperatively with academic teachers within a team concept.

The Qualifications

NJ Certification as Teacher of the Handicapped or Students with Disabilities required.

Demonstrated knowledge in the area of Special Education and curricular content.

Experience working with middle school special education students preferred.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or lawful immigration status.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting Salary Range:

Bachelor's Degree: $70,000 – $100,315
Master's Degree: $77,450 – $109,865
Master's + 30 Credits: $81,565 – $115,450
Doctorate: $84,565 – $118,450

Primary Responsibilities

Implements instruction to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.

Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.

Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives.

Employs instructional methods and available materials that are appropriate for meeting stated objectives.

Assesses the performance of students on a continuing basis and provides progress reports as required.

Identifies students who require additional support services.

Communicates with colleagues, students, and parents.

Maintains high expectations for student performance and behavior.

Engages in professional development activities, which enhances instructional practices.

Participates in appropriate building and district meetings.

Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.

Uses technology for communication purposes.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Working Relationships

Maintain effective relationships with teachers, students, parents, administrators, and appropriate community groups.
