Transdev in Maplewood, NJ is hiring an in-person Dispatcher to join our Essex County team. The Dispatcher oversees road service through communication with Operators and provides customer support to the clients. We are seeking customer service-oriented professionals who are dedicated to safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee road service assigned by tracking trip performance measures, route begin on time, performance, incidents, etc.
  • Provide customer support by responding to questions and concerns regarding customer trips including no shows, cancellations and missed trips.
  • Manage emergency situations for vehicle operators, act as liaison between the operators and emergency services.
  • Manage daily service by reviewing route performance and proactively responding to situations that impact customer service.
  • Managing run pullouts and openings and closing runs in designated Dispatch & Scheduling.
  • Recording late pullouts, uncovered driver callouts, and closed routes.
  • Proactively managing runs to maintain service performance standards.
  • Reassigning trips between runs in a timely way, as needed.
  • Responding to driver requests for assistance.
  • Managing incidents and accidents in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED;
    Technical Degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years' experience dispatching and prior experience as a driver for paratransit operations may be beneficial.
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of traffic patterns and their Impact on paratransit operations, preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills in person, over the phone, and on a two-way communication device.
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office and paratransit scheduling software (and preferably Spare) and the ability to learn new software.
  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
  • Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules as needed.
  • Majority of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities.
  • Majority of work is accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer.
  • The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
