Transdev in Maplewood, NJ is hiring an in‑person Dispatcher to join our Essex County team. The Dispatcher oversees road service through communication with Operators and provides customer support to clients. We are seeking customer‑service‑oriented professionals who are dedicated to safety.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Base pay: minimum $19.00 per hour – maximum $21.00 per hour
  • Vacation: minimum of two (2) weeks per year
  • Sick days: 5 days per year
  • Holidays: 12 days; 8 standard, 4 floating

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee road service assigned by tracking trip performance measures, ensuring routes begin on time, managing incidents, and maintaining service performance standards.
  • Provide customer support by responding to questions and concerns regarding customer trips, including no‑shows, cancellations, and missed trips.
  • Manage emergency situations for vehicle operators and act as liaison between operators and emergency services.
  • Review route performance and proactively respond to situations that impact customer service.
  • Manage run pullouts, openings, and closures in designated Dispatch & Scheduling.
  • Record late pullouts, uncovered driver callouts, and closed routes.
  • Proactively manage runs to maintain service performance standards.
  • Reassign trips between runs in a timely manner as needed.
  • Respond to driver requests for assistance.
  • Manage incidents and accidents in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED; technical degree preferred.
  • 3–5 years of dispatching experience; prior experience as a driver for paratransit operations beneficial.
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of traffic patterns and their impact on paratransit operations preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills in person, over the phone, and on a two‑way communication device.
  • Strong computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office and paratransit scheduling software (preferably Spare). Ability to learn new software.
  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible schedules as needed.
  • Subject to DOT drug testing and physical exam if applicable; DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules as needed.
  • Majority of work is conducted indoors in air‑conditioned or well‑ventilated facilities.
  • Work in an office or cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer.
  • Work may involve long periods of sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
