Structural Steel Estimatortosupportstructuralsteelfabricationestimating .
ThispositionisintendedforarecentgraduateordevelopingestimatorwhocanbetrainedwithinPVB’sestimatingandfabricationprocesses.
Theestimatorwillassistwithquantitytakeoffs,material pricing,fabricationlaborestimates,vendor quotations,bid documentation,andproposalpreparation.
Thepositionwillworkcloselywiththe Estimating Department ,Shop Operations Manager ,Project Managers,andfabricationpersonnel.
Primary Responsibilities- Reviewstructuraldrawings,specifications,billsofmaterial,andbiddocuments.
- Performquantitytakeoffsforstructuralsteel,miscellaneous metals,plate,connections,andrelatedmaterials.
- Preparematerialpricingandfabricationlaborestimates.
- Requestandevaluatepricingfromsteelsuppliers,vendors,and subcontractors.
- Assistwithestimatingdetailing,coatings,freight,testing,andotherfabricationrequirements.
- Identifyscopegaps,drawing conflicts,exclusions,andrequiredclarifications.
- Prepareestimatesummaries,bid documentation,andproposalinformation.
- Maintainorganizedestimatefiles,pricing records,andhistoricalcostinformation.
- Coordinatewithshoppersonnelregardingfabricationmethods,labor requirements,equipment,production,and schedule.
- Participateinestimatereviewsandprojecthandoffmeetings.
- Developtheskillsnecessarytosupportmorecomplexfabricationandmultidisciplinaryestimatesovertime.
- Bachelor’sdegreein
Construction
Management,Engineering,orarelatedfieldispreferred. - Previous estimating,fabrication,construction,internship,orsteelindustryexperienceisbeneficialbutnotrequired.
- Abilitytoreadordeveloptheabilitytoreadstructuraldrawingsandspecifications.
- Basicunderstandingofstructuralsteelfabricationandconstructionispreferred.
- Strong mathematical,organizational,andanalyticalskills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office platforms (Word,Excel,PowerPoint,etc.).
- Abilitytocommunicateandcoordinatewithvendors,project managers,andoperationspersonnel.
- WillingnesstolearnPVB’sestimating,fabrication,andproposalprocesses.
