Job DescriptionThe primary function of this position is to assist the staff and community with all aspects of permitting (review applications for completeness, route for plan review, issuance, inspections, and completion) in keeping with Monroe County’s mission, vision, and values. Additional responsibilities include handling cash for the department.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSProcesses permits from acceptance through plan review, issuance, and closure.
Collects and properly records monies received for permitting, impact, and miscellaneous fees.
Issues Certificates of Compliance (CCs).
Assists Senior Coordinator with the coordination of Plan Examiners on code compliance issues for permitting.
Provides permitting information and assistance to the general public.
Performs permitting records research as required.
Generates cash receipt reports.
Prepares bank deposits.
May be required to occasionally cover different office locations (Stock Island, Big Pine, Marathon, Key Largo).
Responsible for personally knowing and following the County’s Personnel Policies and Procedures, Administrative Instructions, Department Operating Procedures, and applicable Statutes and Regulations.
Responsible for ensuring others also adhere to these standards.
Performs other related job duties as assigned.
In the event of special, emergency, or disaster situations, employee may be required to work schedules other than those for which they are regularly scheduled in any capacity deemed appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED. One (1) year minimum of prior related work experience.

Ability to work from provided guidelines for work, but determine the approach for doing the work.
Ability to perform work that necessitates some specialized knowledge of clerical or trades-based tasks.

Ability to determine problems and create individual solutions for issues.
Ability to work with more than ten coworkers who mostly engage in the same activities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe work is sedentary and requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
