Eligibility for Florida certification is required. FL certification in either Biology Grades 6-12, Chemistry Grades 6-12, or Earth Space Grades 6-12 is a prerequisite for teaching in field.

If you hold an unexpired, out-of-state, professional educator certificate in this subject area, please apply for Florida reciprocity. - Biology Major:
Commonly accepted bachelor's (or higher degree) majors for a Florida temporary educator certificate include:
Bacteriology, Biology, Biological Sciences, Biomechanics, Botany, Dentistry, Doctor of Medicine, Physiology, Exercise Physiology, Genetics, Kinesiology, Life Science, Marine Biology, Microbiology, Zoology, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathy. - Other Majors:
For other degree majors, passing the FTCE Subject Area Exam in Biology 6-12 is required. This computer based test is 80 multiple-choice questions and 2.5 hours.
