ROW Infrastructure/Facilities Maintenance Technician

Position:

Hourly Rate: $23.00 - $28.75 Depending on years of experience.

This position is a skilled labor position. Responsibilities are performing skilled work maintaining the City’s infrastructure and the City’s facilities such as City Hall building, Parks facilities, Maintenance Facilities, and all other City owned facilities. Repair work may consist of plumbing repair, minor electrical, carpentry, and general repairs. Repair and/or maintenance to city roads, bridges, and right of ways. Work may also include assistance to grounds crew when necessary , including public Rights of Way.

• Assist in road, bridge, drainage repair and shoulder work.
• Dig trenches and drains-Assist on VAC truck, vacuum out storm drains.
• Clean up construction debris and work areas.
• Keep the work area clean and organized and use safety cones and signage when required.
• Experience with Concrete work, Electrical work, and other trades.
• Experience with ADA requirements and procedures.
• Ability to transport heavy machinery with truck and trailer.
• Repair or replace plumbing fixtures at various City facilities.
• Minor repair or replacement of electrical issues.
• Knowledge of light carpentry may be required.
• Routine maintenance of HVAC systems.
• Operates trucks and light street repair equipment, such as skid steers, excavators, loaders, etc.
• Maintain and repair highway and other surfaces including potholes, stripping, adding or replacing reflectors, working with concrete and asphalt.
• Maintains the appearance and functionality of signs, guardrails, fence, and lighting through repair and/or replacement using hand or power tools.
• Repairs/maintains functionality of slopes, berms, culverts, drains, etc. through use of shovels and other hand or power tools and heavy equipment.
• Loads and unloads materials for City departments.
• Pressure washing and maintenance of City’s recreation properties.
• Shoulder repair and minor pavement repairs.
• Operate mowing equipment such as riding mowers, weed eaters, pole saws, chain saws, tractors, skid steers, excavators, and similar equipment.
• Knowledge of irrigation systems to perform routine maintenance on pressurized and drip irrigation systems.
• Assists with Citywide hurricane preparedness as required to secure all City facilities.
• Replaces, maintains, and installs signs on City properties and public Right of Ways.
• May be required to work late hours, weekends, and emergency response.
• Must be able to respond to emergency and after‑hour calls on nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Responsible for ensuring all work and activities are performed safely and in accordance with City policies.
• Perform maintenance and improvements on City buildings, streets, and property.
• Obtains oral and written quotes in the procurement process of parts, materials, and equipment according to City policies.
• Shovel dirt or sand in making trenches or other excavations.
• Clean culverts and catch basins to provide Storm‑water systems maintenance.
• Perform upkeep and maintenance on City parks and recreation and maintenance equipment per schedule in accordance with safety standards.
• Other related duties as assigned.

High School Diploma or G.E.D., with aminimum of three years’ experience in building and grounds maintenance, infrastructure maintenance, and machinery operations. MOT Certified. CDL preferred.
