Responsibilities- Teaches Marine Technology to high‑school students.
- Introduces students to the skills necessary to repair and maintain oceangoing pleasure craft.
- Instruction involves hands‑on training utilizing diesel and gasoline engines and related components.
- Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, maintaining order fairly and justly.
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small‑group instruction to adapt the curriculum to each pupil’s needs.
- Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available instructional time.
- Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
- Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil progress and interpret the school program.
- Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members to assess and help pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Supervises pupils in out‑of‑classroom activities during the assigned working day.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Must hold a Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education license at the 9‑12 level.
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a high level of technological competency.
- Must be able to assist in the protection of students and school property, and assist the principal in fire and other emergency drills as required by law and school policy.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Master’s degree preferred.
