Position Summary
Starting Date: Jul 1, 2026
Program Dates: July 12, 2026 – August 13, 2026
Responsibilities- Work all 20 days of the program.
- Independently plan lessons for rigorous, structured reading instruction.
- Complete progress reports during the last week of the program.
- Consult with related service providers to address student needs.
- Provide individualized or small‑group reading instruction to students with special needs, focusing on phonics, fluency, and comprehension.
- Provide direct reading instruction to address students’ IEP goals/objectives.
- Prepare cognitively demanding lessons, assignments, enrichment activities (may require planning outside regular hours).
- Utilize programs such as Wilson, Orton Gillingham, or other multisensory systematic approaches.
- Supervise safe arrival and dismissal of all students assigned to tutoring sessions.
- Maintain timely student attendance and progress records.
- Provide students, families, site coordinators, and program staff with relevant data and monitor progress to prevent regression.
- Participate in scheduled professional development.
- Care for program materials and resources.
- Engage as a partner in planning and problem‑solving.
- Assess students and provide information via progress reports at the end of the ESY services.
- Perform any other related duties requested by the ESY Site Coordinator or Assistant Superintendent of Student Services.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Massachusetts Educator Licensure in Moderate Disabilities.
- Certification of OG/Wilson/Rave‑O.
- Current authorization to work in the United States, obtained by first day of employment.
- MPS values linguistic diversity; candidates who speak another language bring added value.
Hourly rate: $40 per hour.
Hours depend on students requiring these services through their IEP.
Payroll processed biweekly after receipt of completed timesheets in accordance with MPS summer payroll schedule.
ReportingReports to the ESY Director and the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services.
