Housekeeper
The YMCA of Collier County is seeking a dependable, service-oriented Housekeeper to help maintain a clean, safe, welcoming, and attractive environment for members, guests, program participants, volunteers, and staff.
The Housekeeper is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of assigned areas and for performing routine housekeeping duties throughout the YMCA facility. This position uses cleaning supplies, equipment, and approved sanitation methods to maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety. The Housekeeper also monitors housekeeping supplies, reports maintenance needs, and responds to light maintenance requests as appropriate.

Essential Functions
- Sweep, mop, scrub, dust, and vacuum floors, hallways, stairs, locker rooms, bathrooms, activity areas, offices, and other assigned spaces.
- Clean and sanitize high-touch surfaces, restrooms, locker rooms, and other high-use areas.
- Empty and properly dispose of trash and garbage from assigned areas.
- Clean and maintain interior and exterior areas of the YMCA to ensure the facility remains clean, attractive, and professional.
- Operate cleaning equipment and machines safely and according to established procedures.
- Use cleaning products and chemicals in accordance with labels, safety requirements, and approved YMCA sanitation procedures.
- Maintain assigned housekeeping areas according to a routine cleaning schedule established by the supervisor.
- Routinely monitor locker rooms, bathrooms, and other high-use or high-risk areas and report concerns to management.
- Ensure unused rooms, storage areas, and closets are secured as required.
- Notify management when housekeeping supplies are low and assist with maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
- Notify management of needed repairs, damaged equipment, unsafe conditions, or other facility concerns.
- Respond promptly and professionally to light maintenance requests within the scope of the position.
- Follow all YMCA safety policies and procedures to help maintain a safe environment for members, staff, and guests.
- Participate in required safety, housekeeping, and other training programs.
- Assist with facility preparation and cleanup related to programs, special events, and activities as assigned.
- Assist with preparations for inclement weather when requested.
- Greet and interact with YMCA members, guests, volunteers, and staff in a friendly and professional manner.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with children and youth.
- Report suspicious or inappropriate behavior and policy violations in accordance with YMCA policies.
- Follow all applicable mandated reporting requirements and YMCA child protection policies.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred; one to two years of related housekeeping, custodial, facilities, or janitorial experience and/or training preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and understand labels and instructions for cleaning solutions and equipment.
- Knowledge of basic cleaning and sanitation methods preferred.
- Ability to safely use housekeeping equipment, tools, and cleaning products.
- Knowledge and understanding of basic workplace safety practices.
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage assigned tasks.
- Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with members, guests, volunteers, and staff.
- Must be dependable, punctual, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness.
- Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the needs of the YMCA.
