Accountant, Cost Accountant, Financial Reporting

Our client, a manufacturing organization, is seeking an Interim Accountant – Costing and General Accounting to join their team. As an Interim Accountant – Costing and General Accounting, you will be part of the Accounting and Finance Department supporting the Accounting, Operations, and Cross-Functional Project Teams during a key ERP implementation. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent collaboration abilities.

Interim Accountant – Costing and General Accounting

Marengo, IL (McHenry County, IL) – Hybrid (3 days onsite per week)

$30‑45 per hour

• Perform general ledger account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare monthly journal entries, analyze financial data, and support month‑end close activities.
• Conduct variance analysis, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Assist with product costing activities, including tracking production costs, updating standard costs, and analyzing cost variances.
• Participate in cross‑functional initiatives, including ERP implementation support, product launches, and cost improvement projects.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of cost accounting concepts, including standard costing and variance analysis.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
• Experience working with ERP systems and strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.

• 6‑month interim assignment supporting a major ERP implementation initiative.
