The Accounts Payable Accountant II is responsible for performing professional level financial accounting and reporting functions. The Accounts Payable Accountant II will analyze financial data and prepare financial reports.
Responsibilities- Review invoices for payment approval for assigned departments, post invoices to the appropriate purchasing document in the financial system, verify the accuracy of vendor invoices, and confirm that the correct account codes are used.
- Verify RC to match the outgoing payments, keep track of credit memos with outgoing payments for simultaneous posting, verify and calculate all extensions and totals on invoices, including discounts when applicable.
- Maintain and track all payments and encumbrances, invoices, statements, ensuring accurate vendor customer information and support the payment obligations of the organization.
- Reconcile processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances; prepare analyses of accounts and produce monthly reports and entry statistics.
- Respond to external vendors and internal managers regarding all aspects of the accounts payable process, including processing invoices for payment, maintaining accurate vendor customer information, notifying Vendor Enrollment, and ensuring payments to correct locations.
- Lead or assist on check table operations, stuffing checks, and taking checks to the mail room.
- Enter and post financial data, prepare and approve journal entries, reconcile accounts, calculate and enter data into computer systems, research errors and make corrections as required, ensure timely, accurate, and complete preparation of financial statements for internal purposes or required reporting authorities.
- Prepare tax forms and submit mandatory reports; maintain comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, stay aware of new trends, and attend workshops and training sessions as appropriate.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Associate's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required; supplemented by three years of experience in financial accounting; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
Sensory RequirementsSome tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental FactorsEssential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
