Responsibilities
- Prepare and review complex federal and state tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, and estates, including multi‑state returns.
- Provide advanced tax planning, research, and strategic consulting to help clients optimize their tax positions.
- Conduct paid tax consultations with clients, explaining tax positions, planning opportunities, and compliance requirements in a clear and professional manner.
- Ensure full compliance with U.S. federal, state, and local tax laws, including timely filings, estimated payments, extensions, and quarterly projections.
- Respond to client inquiries and notices from taxing authorities; support IRS, state, and local examinations by gathering documentation and preparing responses.
- Review tax returns prepared by junior staff and provide technical guidance, feedback, and mentorship.
- Research complex tax issues, monitor regulatory changes, and apply updated regulations appropriately to client situations.
- Maintain accurate, organized client tax files, documentation, and work papers using tax and accounting software.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally to support accounting, advisory, payroll, or operations teams during off‑peak periods or as business needs arise.
- Identify opportunities to improve tax preparation workflows and contribute to process and efficiency improvements.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment while delivering high‑quality client service.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
- CPA license required.
- 4‑5+ years of tax preparation and tax planning experience
, preferably in public accounting. - Strong experience preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returns.
- Previous experience in full‑cycle accounting or bookkeeping a strong plus.
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state income tax laws; international tax exposure is a big plus.
- Proficiency with Quick Books and tax software such as Ultra Tax (or similar).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Dependable, self‑driven, and able to work independently and stay on task.
- Positive, team‑oriented personality with the ability to mentor junior staff.
- High perseverance and end‑result‑oriented work habits.
- Fast learner with the ability to master new concepts and regulations quickly.
