* Baldwin Paving Company, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced Concrete Foreman to join our team. This is a full-time salaried role reporting to the General Superintendent - Concrete. Extensive travel to job sites is required. Nights and/or weekends may be required in addition to regular day shifts.

Summary:

The Concrete Foreman is responsible for supervising a crew of concrete finishers, laborers, equipment operators, and drivers to ensure safe, high-quality execution of concrete work including curb, gutter, flatwork, sidewalks, and drainage structures. This role ensures projects meet GDOT, OSHA, and FMCSA requirements, while coordinating daily operations, equipment, and materials on state, federal, and commercial job sites.

Essential functions:
  • Lead and supervise concrete crews in curb, gutter, sidewalk, and drainage structure work, ensuring safety, productivity, and quality standards are met.
  • Oversee drivers and ensure compliance with FMCSA/DOT regulations, including inspections, CDL validity, and HOS logs (as applicable).
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, dispatch, inspectors, and vendors to ensure seamless operations.
  • Complete accurate reports on labor, materials, equipment use, and work performed.
  • Enforce safety protocols (OSHA, DOT, company), conduct safety talks, and address hazards on-site.
  • Plan daily work, review project specs, and coordinate materials, equipment, and labor to meet project timelines.
  • Provide hands-on training, coaching, and leadership to ensure crew development and safe work practices.

Education, Training, and

Experience:
  • Education:

    High School Diploma or GED is required. Additional technical training or coursework in concrete construction, blueprint reading, or construction management is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in concrete construction, including curb, gutter, sidewalks, flatwork, and drainage structures.
    • At least 2 years of supervisory experience leading construction crews is required.
    • Experience with GDOT, state, or federal roadway projects is strongly preferred.
    • Experience overseeing CDL drivers or DOT-regulated vehicles is a plus.
  • Technology

    Skills:

    Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required. Experience with construction management software is preferred.
  • Certifications and Licenses:
    • Valid Driver's License is required.
    • Concrete certifications such as ACI, NCCER, or GDOT Concrete Technician are strongly preferred.
    • OSHA 10- or 30-Hour Certification is preferred.
    • First Aid/CPR Certification and DOT/FMCSA Compliance Training are also preferred.
  • Additional Requirements:

Physical and Environmental Aspects:
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform frequent stooping, bending, crouching, and climbing as necessary to carry out key responsibilities.
  • Must be able to safely climb on and off heavy mobile equipment multiple times per day.
  • Requires frequent repetitive motion using arms, hands, and feet, including fine motor tasks and signaling.
  • Visual acuity requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with crew members and vehicle operators to ensure safety and coordination.
  • Must be able to operate company vehicles, including trucks and heavy machinery, in accordance with training and company policy.
  • Must be able to clearly hear and understand verbal instructions, safety signals, and surrounding job site sounds in a noisy environment.
  • Must have full range of motion in upper body to perform tasks such as concrete finishing, forming, and vehicle signaling, with good hand-eye coordination.
  • Must be able to tolerate vibration from equipment and job site conditions, and noise from nearby machinery.
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry 5 to 20 pounds independently, and up to 25 to 50 pounds with assistance.

Work Environment:

This role is performed primarily in outdoor construction environments and may include work in proximity to active roadways, heavy equipment, and moving machinery.
  • Exposure to fumes, dust, asphalt, and mechanical vibrations is frequent.
  • Work is often conducted in high-noise environments; hearing protection and other PPE (e.g., gloves, safety glasses) may be required.
  • The company monitors noise levels in accordance with OSHA regulations. When thresholds are met or exceeded, noise testing and protective measures will be implemented to ensure employee safety.
