Overview
The Southeast Health District Teledentistry Program is seeking a highly qualified candidate to fill a part‑time, hourly position of Dental Assistant. This position location is negotiable within the district.

Under general supervision, provides preventive oral health care services in school‑based teledentistry clinics in Brantley, Charlton, and Clinch counties and performs related administrative office duties.
- Performs preliminary oral health assessment and reviews with supervising dentist.
- Examines head, neck, and oral areas for signs of oral disease.
- Performs oral prophylaxis, fluoride treatments, and sealant applications.
- Takes dental x‑rays while safely operating radiographic equipment.
- Educates patients, classrooms, and program‑associated partners on proper oral hygiene instructions and techniques.
- Charts conditions and disease for diagnosis and treatment by dentist.
- Follows all infection control/safety/risk management practices and applies universal precautions.
- Follows clinical guidelines of record documentation and HIPAA regulations.
- Practices infection control according to clinical protocol and OSHA regulations.
- Maintains dental equipment, instruments, supplies, and sterilization area.
- Coordinates with staff in developing and fulfilling case management plans for each patient.
- Maintains professional knowledge of current oral health trends and developments through literature journals and attending related seminars, including quarterly oral health coordinator meetings.
- Assists the program coordinator and staff with dental related duties and various administrative tasks related to the program.
- Must be able to travel throughout the organization's service area.
Associate's degree in dental hygiene from an accredited college or university AND current Georgia dental hygienist license. Current CPR/BLS certification. 2+ years of clinical dental hygiene experience. In compliance with dental hygienist continuing education requirements.
Preferred QualificationsExperience working with pediatric patients; experience with Teledentistry and/or working under general supervision. Experience with Dentrix software.
