Our Basics Facilitators play a vital role in fostering the overall well-being and development of our youngest residents (Birth-5) and their primary caregivers within Cobb County.

As a Facilitator, you will share your unique perspective with child development, quality learning, and social-emotional growth to promote the principles of the Basics as a lifestyle and lead Playgroups and Playground Paloozas to empower parents and caregivers.

This role will be responsible for leading workshops, outlining activities based on each principle, and collaborating with local partners to coordinate standalone or series of Playground Paloozas.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITY

Embody the Basics in the Community

  • Engage with children and families through interactive workshops (Playground Paloozas & Playgroups) that consist of movement, singing, dancing, and reading
  • Attend Basics Facilitator training (including 2 observational workshops and 2 co-led workshops) to deliver workshops on all 5 principles
  • Table at community events to engage with families and share resources surrounding the Basics Cobb County
  • Follow us on social media and share tips, resources and posts
  • Encourage parents to enroll in the Basics Insights text messaging service
  • Communicate with parents and families about ways they can build their child’s social, emotional and cognitive skills at home, in school, and in the community
  • Promote and distribute Basics and other partner resources at workshops
  • Encourage Facilitators, Ambassadors, and caregivers to participate in Cobb Collaborative’s B5 Strategy Team meetings and other CC Events
  • Gather feedback from participants via survey and testimonials
  • Complete post-season and post-series assessments
  • Enroll in Basics Learning System and complete relevant courses
  • Share feedback and recommendations from families with Cobb Collaborative
  • Solicit input from families and share tips about their "go to" best practices
  • Seek other related personal/professional enrichment opportunities as desired
PREFERRED CANDIDATE
  • Have a background in early childhood development
  • Formal experience with young children required; degree not necessary
  • Are bilingual in Spanish and English (training currently available in English only)
  • Have a passion for child development and education, family engagement, and evidence-based practices
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Enjoy singing, dancing, and moving in front of crowds of people and children
COMPENSATION & EXPECTATIONS
  • Stipend available for qualified completed monthly activity sheets
  • Palooza Facilitators: Expected to spend up to 5 hours per month on activities
  • Playgroup Facilitators: Expected to spend up to 10 hours per month on activities
