Role Description The Keyboard Instructor role is a part-time, on-site position based at the School of Rock location in Marietta, GA. In this role, the teacher delivers engaging individual and group lessons, focusing on practical, performance-based music education aligned with School of Rock’s curriculum. Daily responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, teaching instrument technique and music theory, coaching students for rehearsals and live shows, and providing constructive feedback to support skill development and confidence.

The teacher collaborates with staff to organize performances, monitor student progress, and maintain a safe, inclusive, and encouraging classroom and rehearsal environment. Additional duties include communicating with families about student performance, participating in staff meetings and training, and contributing to a positive, community-oriented culture.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Music Theory and general Music knowledge to teach core concepts and support performance-based learning.
  • Demonstrated Music Performance experience, ideally including live shows, bands, ensembles, or similar settings.
  • Background in Music Education, including lesson planning, classroom management, and age-appropriate instruction methods.
  • Proficiency in Piano and at least one additional instrument (e.g., guitar, bass, drums, vocals) is highly beneficial.
  • Ability to work with learners of diverse ages, skill levels, and backgrounds while maintaining an inclusive and respectful environment.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills to engage students and build positive relationships with families and colleagues.
  • Experience coaching students for performances or ensembles and comfort directing group rehearsals on stage and in the studio.
