Education/ Certification

Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Master's Degree
Experience Preferred:
  • Experience as a school counselor at the secondary level.
  • Experience as an advanced academics or CTE teacher.
Knowledge/

Skills Required:

Technical Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Required:
  • Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local laws, guidelines, and procedures relating to college, career, and military readiness.
  • Knowledge of secondary course requirements for assuring that students are on their identified track for college, career, or the military.
  • Knowledge of successful at-risk programs or interventions related to assisting students who are not on track for graduation with their cohort.
  • Working knowledge of the Texas Education Agency College, Career, and Military Readiness Indicators and the State's Accountability System
  • Knowledge of CCMR components and ability to help students achieve CCMR indicators.
  • Ability to expand learning, opportunity, and preparation toward students having a successful post-high school experience.
  • Skill in communicating effectively with others, both orally and in writing.
  • Skill in interpreting CCMR data and using the analysis for increasing student graduation rates.
Function

Supports the Office of Advanced Academics and Guidance Services by collaborating with campus administrators, teachers, and College and Career Readiness Counselors and Guidance Counselors, serving as a liaison to the community, institutions of higher education, military recruiters, business partners, and district staff. Supports District personnel in all areas of academic achievement reporting for dual credit programs, supporting correct PEIMS reporting of CCMR indicators, and communicating dual credit enrollment program information, FAFSA completions, My Texas Future  Completions, CCMR Outcomes Bonus, and accountability trends to district staff, students, and families.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and evaluate CCMR instructional programs on an ongoing basis to assure that high school students are on track to or have already met a CCMR indicator.
  • Serve as a resource for the counselors at each high school.
  • Ensure the District's ASVAB testing requirements are met, and that CCMR college and career counselors coordinate the evaluation process of the ASVAB results with Military recruiters.
  • Provide guidance and support to campus principals, leadership teams, and counselors.
  • Provide leadership and support to the campus College and Career Readiness counselors.
  • Ensure military readiness data is collected and submitted to PEIMS as required.
  • Ensure the state's established TSI criteria in reading and mathematics on SAT, ACT, Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2 (TSIA2), or college prep courses are coordinated, offered, and communicated to students.
  • Monitor and collaborate with your department to adjust the District's TSIA2 testing plan to ensure students have opportunities to test for entrance into dual credit classes and
  • post-secondary classes, especially at-risk and high socio-economically disadvantaged students.
  • Train District and campus staff to proctor the TSIA2, ensuring College Board expectations occur.
  • Work closely with the Director of Career and Technical Education and Director for Advanced Academics and Guidance Services to ensure College, Career, and Military Readiness related courses and opportunities are aligned.
  • Track the District's FAFSA completion rate and report regularly to district and campus leaders.
  • Assist with evaluating and reporting CCMR indicators for campus and district accountability and federal grant reporting.
