Our client in Newton County, Georgia is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their team. This role will work closely with the Engineering Manager to design and develop HVAC-related systems for both current and future products. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, innovative, and eager to make a meaningful impact through world-class mechanical design.
Primary Responsibilities- Develop and design custom HVAC related systems
- Use house design software, vendor/manufacturer software, and Solid Works
- Create DFM / production drawings
- Hold design review meetings with manufacturing team before releasing drawing package to manufacturing department
- Review, update and manage project documentation and BOM’s
- Work with customers to create final submittal packages
- Select & size mechanical components such as coils, condensing units, blowers, heaters using manufacturer selection software and vendor resources
- Create and review PDF documentation in Adobe Acrobat Pro
- R&D involvement and New Product Development projects
- Write procedures and production standards documentation
- Capture and document continuous improvement needs and create action plans
- Assist field service & customers with technical questions & engineering support
- BS Engineering Degree from accredited college or university
- Minimum 5-years of experience in a Mechanical Engineering role
- Advanced level expertise in Solid Works CAD, CSWA /CSAP preferred
- Experience designing sheet metal parts and assemblies
- Working knowledge of HVAC or refrigeration systems
- Very good technical writing and documentation skills
- Self-motivated, engaged, team-oriented, and strategic thinker with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision
- A passion for doing high-quality work with a high attention to detail
- The ability to think critically, innovate, and solve challenging technical problems
- Capacity to work under deadlines and tight schedules
- A very strong work ethic, and the ability to handle peak work schedules
- Foster a positive, and can-do attitude in a dynamic work environment
- 3+ years of experience designing HVAC or related refrigeration systems
- 3+ years designing sheet metal parts and assemblies
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics & psychometrics
- Load calculation software experience (FEA, CFD; etc.)
- Experience with Solid Works PDM or other PDM system
- Ability to independently perform:
- Duct and pipe sizing and routing,
- Detail system design of Commercial and Industrial HVAC systems with heat load calculations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Power Point
- LEAN, Six Sigma and solid problem-solving experience
Monday – Thursday / 6AM - 5PM (40 hours). Overtime expected when required. Onsite work. Travel is rare (5%).
