Engineer IV

Job Title

This position will be responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations and staff involved with the Development Services section within the Engineering and Records Division.

Manages, directs, and evaluates assigned staff; organizes, prioritizes and schedules work activities; oversees engineering work; develops, plans and implements short- and long-term goals; manages design, development, construction and/or implementation of complex projects; facilitates communication; prepares and evaluates requests for proposals; provides technical assistance; responds to concerns, complaints and inquiries; performs other related duties.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field required; supplemented by seven years of progressively responsible experience in engineering or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Professional Engineer license or be licensed in another state and obtain a Georgia Professional Engineer license within one year.

Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. Sensory requirements include the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors and communicate orally.

Environmental factors include exposure to hazards related to construction sites and water system utilities.
