Our client is seeking a highly motivated Tax Manager to support the Company's federal, state, and local tax functions. This role will serve as a key contributor in managing income tax compliance, tax provision processes, indirect taxes, tax audits, and acquisition-related tax matters across a growing portfolio of operating companies.
The Tax Manager will work closely with the Tax Director, Chief Financial Officer, Corporate Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, and business unit finance teams to ensure timely and accurate tax reporting, compliance, and planning activities. This position reports in a dotted-line capacity to both the Tax Director and CFO and will operate as an individual contributor without direct reports.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical tax expertise with hands‑on execution capabilities, thrives in a fast‑paced environment, and is comfortable managing multiple priorities across a decentralized and acquisition‑oriented organization.
Key Responsibilities Tax Provision & Reporting- Prepare and maintain the quarterly and annual income tax provision in accordance with ASC 740.
- Calculate current and deferred tax positions, including supporting schedules and account roll forwards.
- Prepare tax account reconciliations and coordinate provision‑related journal entries.
- Analyze effective tax rate drivers and prepare supporting documentation for management review.
- Support the preparation of tax disclosures for financial statements and lender reporting requirements.
- Coordinate with Accounting and FP&A teams to ensure consistency between tax reporting and financial reporting.
- Assist with uncertain tax position analyses and related documentation.
- Support forecasting of cash taxes and effective tax rates.
- Coordinate the preparation and review of federal, state, and local income tax returns prepared by external service providers.
- Gather, validate, and provide financial and operational data required for tax filings.
- Review tax returns, extensions, estimated tax payments, and related compliance filings.
- Monitor tax law developments and evaluate impacts on the business.
- Assist with tax credits and incentives, including R&D credits and state incentive programs.
- Support tax basis and attribute tracking, including NOLs, tax credits, and carry forwards.
- Support sales and use tax compliance and nexus monitoring across multiple jurisdictions.
- Coordinate property tax filings and assessments.
- Assist with business license, gross receipts, and other non‑income tax filings.
- Partner with operations and finance teams to improve tax‑related processes and controls.
- Evaluate tax implications associated with new business activities, service offerings, and acquisitions.
- Assist with tax due diligence efforts related to acquisitions and strategic transactions.
- Support post‑acquisition tax integration activities, including entity alignment, registration requirements, and compliance onboarding.
- Coordinate with external advisors on transaction‑related tax matters.
- Participate in legal entity restructuring projects and tax planning initiatives.
- Support special projects involving tax process improvement, automation, and systems enhancements.
- Coordinate responses to federal, state, and local tax notices.
- Maintain audit‑ready documentation supporting tax positions and filings.
- Assist with income tax, sales tax, and property tax audits.
- Work with external advisors and tax authorities to resolve issues efficiently.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field.
- CPA certification, JD, or CPA‑track candidate strongly preferred.
- 5-8+ years of progressive tax experience.
- Strong knowledge of ASC 740 and U.S. federal and state income tax compliance.
- Experience working with external tax service providers and auditors.
- Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Compensation: $120,000 - $150,000 salary plus 10% bonus
