A successful, entrepreneurial family office is seeking an experienced VP of Finance to provide financial leadership across a diversified portfolio of operating businesses, real estate investments, and other family investments.
The organization has an established accounting team responsible for day-to-day accounting activities. This position will serve as the senior financial partner to ownership, with responsibility for cash management, forecasting, financial controls, capital allocation, management reporting, and strategic financial analysis across the family's various interests.
The ideal candidate will combine a strong accounting foundation with the ability to look forward, anticipate cash and capital needs, evaluate investment opportunities, and help ownership make informed financial decisions.
Must-Have Candidate ProfileSenior financial leadership experience
Strong cash management, treasury, and cash forecasting experience
Multi-entity accounting and finance experience
Experience managing finances across multiple businesses, investments, or legal entities
Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning capabilities
Ability to develop management reporting, KPIs, and financial analysis
Strong financial controls and accounting foundation
Experience leading and developing accounting and finance teams
Comfortable operating in a hands-on, entrepreneurial environment
Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to ownership
Experience serving as a financial partner to a CEO, family ownership group, or executive leadership team
Family office, holding company, diversified business, or private investment group experience
CPA designation
Public accounting foundation
Experience partnering directly with family ownership or entrepreneurial business leaders
Real estate investment experience
Private equity or private investment experience
M&A and due diligence exposure
Experience improving financial processes, reporting, controls, and systems
The VP of Finance will provide financial leadership across a multi-entity family office structure encompassing operating businesses, real estate, investments, and other family-owned assets.
This individual will work closely with ownership to provide greater visibility into the family's financial position, cash requirements, business performance, and investment activities.
The role requires someone who can move comfortably between accounting oversight and strategic finance. The VP of Finance must understand the numbers, ensure the underlying financial information is reliable, and then use that information to help ownership make better decisions.
A major focus will be understanding where cash is today, where it will be needed in the future, and how capital can best be protected and deployed across the family's various interests.
Key Responsibilities Family Office Financial LeadershipProvide financial oversight across multiple family-owned entities, operating businesses, real estate holdings, and investments.
Develop consolidated and entity-level financial reporting for ownership.
Provide ownership with clear visibility into financial performance, liquidity, commitments, and capital requirements.
Coordinate financial activities across the family office structure.
Partner with outside CPAs, tax advisors, attorneys, bankers, investment professionals, and other advisors.
Help ownership evaluate financial priorities across multiple entities and investments.
Lead cash management and liquidity planning across the organization.
Develop short- and long-term cash flow forecasts.
Anticipate future cash requirements and potential liquidity needs.
Monitor cash across multiple entities and businesses.
Manage banking relationships and financing arrangements.
Recommend how available cash can best be maintained, invested, or deployed.
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
Develop financial models and scenario analyses.
Build meaningful management reporting packages, KPIs, and dashboards.
Analyze performance across operating businesses and investments.
Identify financial trends, risks, and opportunities.
Provide ownership with actionable financial analysis rather than simply historical reporting.
Advise ownership regarding capital allocation across businesses and investments.
Evaluate potential investments, acquisitions, real estate opportunities, and expansion initiatives.
Support financial due diligence and transaction analysis.
Analyze expected returns, cash requirements, and financial risks associated with investment opportunities.
Help ownership determine where capital can generate the greatest long-term value.
