Position OverviewA successful entrepreneurial family office is seeking an experienced VP of Finance/Accounting to provide financial leadership across a diversified portfolio of operating businesses, real estate holdings, and private investments.
The organization has an established accounting team responsible for day-to-day accounting activities. The VP of Finance/Accounting will serve as the senior financial partner to family ownership, providing clear visibility into cash, business performance, investment activity, and future capital requirements.
This position requires a financial executive who can combine strong accounting oversight with forward-looking financial leadership. A primary focus will be understanding where cash is today, anticipating where it will be needed, and advising ownership on how capital can be protected and strategically deployed.
Key Responsibilities- Lead cash management, treasury, liquidity planning, and short- and long-term cash-flow forecasting across multiple entities.
- Provide consolidated and entity-level financial reporting, forecasts, KPIs, and strategic analysis to family ownership.
- Oversee budgeting, financial planning, scenario modeling, and performance analysis across operating companies and investments.
- Advise ownership on capital allocation, financing decisions, real estate opportunities, acquisitions, and private investments.
- Evaluate prospective investments, including expected returns, cash requirements, financial risks, and long‑term value.
- Support M&A activity, financial due diligence, transaction analysis, and financing arrangements.
- Provide leadership and oversight to the accounting and finance team while strengthening accountability and workflows.
- Ensure accurate financial reporting and improve accounting policies, internal controls, processes, systems, and reporting capabilities.
- Manage relationships with banks, outside CPAs, tax advisors, attorneys, investment professionals, and other external partners.
- Translate complex financial information into clear, practical recommendations for ownership and non-financial executives.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting and an active CPA designation.
- At least 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including senior leadership as a VP of Finance, Director of Finance, Controller, or similar position.
- Significant cash management, treasury, liquidity planning, and cash‑flow forecasting experience.
- Experience managing finance and accounting across multiple businesses, investments, or legal entities.
- Strong budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, management reporting, and capital‑allocation capabilities.
- Experience leading accounting and finance professionals and improving financial processes, controls, reporting, and ERP systems.
- Experience working directly with family ownership, entrepreneurial business leaders, or executive leadership teams.
