Description

State Licensed clinicians or Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC) provide crisis intervention and response, case management services, and behavioral health consultation services for the Georgia Army National Guard leadership and service members (SM) and their families, promoting mental health fitness and personal wellness for operational readiness.

Essential Functions

Assist in providing 24/7/365 access to clinically appropriate intake, assessment, behavioral health screening and referral services via a 24-hour crisis line. These services are conducted in person, telephonically or by email.

Provide clinical case management services including assessment, intervention plan, referral, and monitoring of clinical progress.

Assess the SM for his/her presenting issues; define an appropriate intervention plan; work with collateral agents (if applicable); conduct follow up with the SM and collateral agents; and consult with the SM's supervisor/commander regarding duty limiting conditions (if applicable).

Engage in Mental Health Awareness and Wellness Promotion activities (Yellow Ribbon, Coping with Deployment, etc.) facilitating the prevention and education of mental health issues, early intervention, crisis response and post-intervention per requested post-deployment and wellness events across the state of Georgia.

Provide consultation services to leaders and units in accordance with the approved Standard Operating and Clinical Policies & Procedures Manual.

Provide service during critical incident, challenging events that have the potential to create significant human distress and can overwhelm the usual coping mechanisms of a service member or a family member. The service should be comprehensive, phase sensitive, and integrated multi-component approach to crisis intervention. The activities may be in collaboration with Director of Psychological Health, Family Programs, Chaplain Services, and Risk Resiliency Reduction/Suicide Prevention team.

Requirements

Master’s degree in a clinical mental health field from an accredited college or university recognized by the corresponding professional association(s).

State license to meet the requirements of a qualified mental health practitioner. Must function at the independent level without requiring state mandated clinical supervision.

Work independently and have flexibility, personal integrity and ability to work effectively with staff and support agencies.

Minimum two (2) years of clinical and/or mental health case management experience after receiving the qualifying degree for this position.

Experience manning a 24/7 hotline.

Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation for potential travel throughout the state.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Employees must provide proof of identity and documents supporting their legal authorization to work in the United States. Employees will also submit to a full background check and will be processed for the DoD Tier 1 investigation and must be favorably adjudicated.
