Overview

Position Summary

We seek a Talent Acquisition & Human Resources Specialist who prioritizes quality over quantity in candidate recruitment and HR practices. This role identifies and attracts top-tier talent while ensuring a strong cultural and organizational fit. Beyond recruitment, the position will support key HR functions, including onboarding, employee engagement, and compliance. The ideal candidate is strategic, detail-oriented, and committed to building a high-performing workforce through thoughtful and intentional hiring rather than high-volume recruitment.

Responsibilities

1) Talent Acquisition

  • Develop and implement targeted recruitment strategies to find the right talent, not just fill positions quickly.
  • Manage the full-cycle recruitment process, ensuring each hire aligns with company values, culture, and long-term goals.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to deeply understand workforce needs and ensure a rigorous, quality-driven hiring process.
  • Utilize a selective and strategic approach to sourcing, interviewing, and evaluating candidates.
  • Leverage multiple recruitment channels (job boards, social media, networking, referrals) while focusing on candidate quality and potential.
  • Provide a high-touch candidate experience, ensuring a seamless and professional hiring journey.
  • Maintain and refine the applicant tracking system (ATS) to track high-caliber candidates for future hiring needs.
  • Use industry salary data and benchmarking to ensure competitive job offers and align with experience levels.

2) Human Resources Support

  • Assist in onboarding and orientation to ensure a smooth transition for new hires.
  • Maintain employee records, HR documentation, and compliance with labor laws.
  • Support performance management, including employee evaluations and career development discussions.
  • Assist with employee benefits administration, including annual renewals and research into additional benefit offerings.
  • Help develop and update the employee handbook, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and other HR policies.
  • Support general office duties and coordinate travel arrangements for team members as needed.
  • Provide proactive solutions to enhance employee engagement and retention.
  • Monitor employee performance and conduct regular assessments to identify strengths, address challenges, and support career growth.
  • Review company policies for clarity, consistency, and compliance, and proactively recommend updates to leadership that align with evolving organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications

1) Education & Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in talent acquisition, HR, and recruitment, preferably in the construction industry. Experience must be in an internal HR role, recruiting directly for the company’s workforce, not as a third-party recruiter or staffing agency representative.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Experience using applicant tracking systems (ATS) and recruiting software (Workable, Greenhouse, or similar).
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to adapt to recruitment challenges
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships with candidates and hiring managers.
  • Willingness to work overtime and under pressure when necessary.

2) Technical & Software Skills

  • Proficiency in applicant tracking systems (ATS) and HR software (Workable, ADP, or similar).
  • Experience with Linked In Recruiter, job boards, and sourcing tools.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) for HR reporting and documentation.
  • Knowledge of social media recruiting strategies for talent sourcing.

Strong Candidate Preferences

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or business administration
  • HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus.
  • Deep understanding of construction industry roles and hiring challenges.

Personal Attributes

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Pride in one's work with an emphasis on consistent, repeatable work.
