Your Work MattersAs a Claims Manager (Workers’ Compensation & General Liability) you are responsible for key aspects of the company’s claims administration program, including managing the company’s workers’ compensation and general liability claims. This person will work with our third-party administrators to stay current on the status of each claim, set appropriate reserves, develop strategies, detect trends, identify high risk claims, partner with our insurance broker, coordinate with our stores, embrace technology and manage forecasts and budgets.
YourDay Consists Of
- Log and track all workers’ comp and general liability claims for the company
- Update the logs regularly to document the current status of each claim
- Know when the next follow-up date should be and set reminders to obtain updates
- Know and understand the reserve dollar amounts for each claim and understand when and why adjustments are necessary
- Demonstrate strategic claims management planning and prioritization
- Determine when to initiate surveillance or other investigative services
- Provide claims training to various levels of management throughout the organization
- Single point of contact for the stores on claims follow up
- Stay current on best in class tools and resources available in the industry
- Monitor/track claims where there is subrogation potential and direct TPA/Claims Service provider in pursuance of recovery
- Respond promptly to questions from stores and exhibit a store-focused approach to claims administration
Identify claims trends and develop mitigation strategies with other departments - Assist the Sr. Director of Risk Management in other areas of the department
- 5 years of insurance and claims experience, particularly related to workers’ compensation
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong analytical and time management skills
- Able to maintain confidentiality concerning projects and assignments
- Ability to proactively and independently analyze historical claims data, claims trends and exceptions
- Proven problem-solving and team building skills
- Excellent organizational skills, delegation and follow-up skills
- Basic computer skills, including MS Word and Excel
- Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment
- Primarily a sedentary role with extended periods of sitting, though occasional walking, standing, or light physical activity (lifting up to 20 lbs) may be needed.
- Work is typically performed in a quiet to moderate office setting, with occasional exposure to active warehouse environments and moving equipment.
