Branch Leader Responsibilities
The branch leader has responsibility for managing all aspects of the assigned branch. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, driving branch performance through leading, coaching and managing; and business development. Small‑business expertise and development are critical to Truist’s purpose of inspiring and building better lives and communities. The role ensures compliance with internal controls, operational procedures, and risk‑management policies. Human‑capital responsibilities include interviewing, selecting, hiring, conducting performance reviews, disciplinary actions, workforce management, and scheduling.
The branch leader may be cross‑trained to assist with teller transactions as needed.
- Promote a positive public image in the community and instill the Purpose, Mission, and Values in the team in support of the Truist culture.
- Drive branch business development to deliver strong team and individual performance through personal productivity, focusing on Truist Strategy areas such as Small Business, Mass Affluent, Community Heroes, and Integrated Relationship Management (IRM) partnership.
- Drive branch revenue through Small‑Business development and new client strategies; grow Small‑Business expertise through face‑to‑face client appointments, outbound calling, and prospecting; grow Mass Affluent through similar activities.
- Participate in civic, government, professional, business, and community affairs as approved in the market to prospect and develop new business through community involvement and brand building.
- Execute branch engagement routines by leading, coaching, growing, and motivating teammates to fulfill the Purpose, Mission, and Values for client financial success and team empowerment.
- Partner with IRM and Operations to ensure compliance with bank procedures, internal controls, risk management, the Truist Code of Ethics, and complete required team training. Collaborate with IRM and key line‑of‑business partners to promote One Team culture within the branch.
- Oversee human‑capital decisions including interviewing, selection, hiring, workforce scheduling, development planning, annual performance reviews, ratings, and performance counseling—including disciplinary actions—for all branch team members.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and related training or experience.
- Two years of financial services and consumer/small‑business expertise or equivalent experience and/or performance.
- One year of previous branch leadership or management experience.
- Strong interpersonal, sales‑relationship, and prioritization skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be SAFE Mortgage Licensing Act compliant within 30 days of employment, including new or transfer registration and applicable NMLS background check.
- Ability to inspire, lead, and coach others.
- Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Business, Accounting, Finance, or Banking.
- Graduate of Internal Leadership Development Programs.
All regular teammates (not temporary or contingent workers) working 20 hours or more per week are eligible for benefits, though specific eligibility may depend on the division. Truist offers medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, accidental death and dismemberment, tax‑preferred savings accounts, and a 401(k) plan. Teammates receive no less than 10 vacation days (prorated on hire date and status) and 10 sick days (prorated) during the first year, plus paid holidays.
Additional benefits may include a defined‑benefit pension plan, restricted stock units, and a deferred compensation plan, depending on the position and division. Further benefit details will be provided through the hiring process.
