Job Summary
Full‑time Night RN Clinical Nurse: 7:00p.m. – 7:00a.m. A proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers who provide individualized high‑quality, safe patient care. Works within the Wellstar Shared Governance Model and the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, supported by evidence‑based practice and research.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions- A. Performs the Nursing Process (assessment; diagnosis; identification of outcomes; planning; implementation and evaluation) in the performance of clinical care using evidence‑based practice, analytical/critical thinking and ensuring that care is individualized; coordinates care through effective partnerships recognizing that caring is central to achieving optimal patient care outcomes.
- B. Provides relationship‑based, patient‑centered care that is consistent with population‑specific characteristics (e.g., age, gender, disease) in a manner that adapts service delivery to reflect cultural diversity.
- C. Partners with patients and significant others using appropriate methods for setting and purpose (e.g., bedside shift report, interdisciplinary rounds, just‑in‑time and planned patient teaching; keeps patients and significant others updated and makes patients’ goals the focus of the plan of care).
- D. Practices using current clinical practice standards.
- A. Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care that promotes the professional care delivery model, including interdisciplinary rounds, case review, timely documentation, and a respectful, inclusive clinical environment.
- B. Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner and promoting the recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members.
- C. Participates and supports performance improvement and research utilization to promote safe, quality patient care, including initiation or leadership of such activities, and actively supports participation in shared governance at all levels.
- A. Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessment, required mandatory education, and population‑specific education.
- B. Serves as a preceptor and/or mentor for other professional nurses (and staff or students for all disciplines) to ensure a current and future qualified workforce, modeling professional nursing practice and creating a healthy work environment.
- A. Promotes evidence‑based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement; participates in activities such as value analysis to evaluate patient care products.
- B. Upholds all health‑care system/organizational policies, procedures, and clinical competencies, including legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements (e.g., TJC Patient Safety Goals and Wellstar Health System safety absolutes).
- C. Participates in data collection, poses relevant clinical questions, consults appropriate experts, and uses available resources and evidence to address practice questions.
- A. Proactively plans for patient care across the care continuum during direct patient care.
- B. Participates in the development of protocols and procedures, either through self‑initiation or collaboration with care managers and other team members to achieve best‑practice outcomes (e.g., reducing readmission rates, avoidable days, adverse events).
- C. Supports efficient and effective use of human and material resources.
- D. Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Minimum Education
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma;
Bachelor’s in Nursing (preferred).
- RN – Registered Nurse (Single State).
- RN‑COMPACT – Registered Nurse (Multi‑state Compact).
- BLS – Basic Life Support or ARC‑BLS – American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS‑I – Basic Life Support Instructor.
- Less than 1year of direct patient care experience; completion of an accredited/approved nursing school with required clinical hours.
Clear documentation, cultural competency, collaborative teamwork, problem‑solving, patient‑centered communication, and adherence to evidence‑based nursing practice.
