Job Summary

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. The RN functions within a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. RN competencies are derived from the Wellstar Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice and research, and are underpinned by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics.

• Exemplary Practice and Outcomes
  • Performs the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation) using evidence-based practice.
  • Provides relationship‑based, patient‑centered care consistent with population‑specific characteristics and adapts service delivery to reflect cultural diversity.
  • Partners with patients and significant others using appropriate methods (bedside shift report, interdisciplinary rounds, patient teaching) and keeps patient goals central to the plan of care.

  • Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care that promotes the professional care delivery model.
  • Demonstrates teamwork by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner and supporting recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members.
  • Participates in and supports performance improvement and research to promote safe, quality patient care, including leading activities and supporting shared governance.
• Professional Development and Initiative
  • Completes all mandatory education and population‑specific education.
  • Serves as preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses and staff or students.

  • Promotes evidence‑based practice, nursing research and performance improvement.
  • Upholds all healthcare system policies, procedures, and clinical competencies, including legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
  • Participates in data collection, formulates clinical questions, consults experts, and uses evidence to address practice questions.
• Resources and Support
  • Plans for patient care across the continuum while providing direct patient care.
  • Participates in development of protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes.
  • Supports efficient and effective use of human and material resources.

Associate's Nursing or Diploma (Nurse) Nursing or Bachelor's Nursing (Preferred)

RN Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN‑COMPACT (Multi‑state Compact), BLS – Basic Life Support or ARC‑BLS – American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS‑I – Basic Life Support – Instructor

Minimum 5 years completion of an accredited/approved school of nursing with requisite clinical hours and direct patient care experience.
