W.T. Byler is seeking a reliable Field Equipment Support Technician to provide on-site equipment support and light mechanical service across active job sites. This role ensures field crews have properly functioning tools and equipment by conducting inspections, performing minor repairs, and coordinating larger maintenance needs with the shop team. The position is field-based and requires travel between project locations.
What You'll Do- Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform light mechanical repairs in the field
- Support mobilization and demobilization of equipment to and from project sites
- Troubleshoot basic hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical issues onsite
- Coordinate major repair needs with the Shop Mechanic and Equipment Manager
- Maintain accurate field equipment logs and inspection documentation
- Assist crews with safe operation and handling of tools and equipment
- Ensure equipment complies with company safety standards and OSHA requirements
- Respond to urgent equipment issues to minimize project downtime
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience supporting heavy equipment or construction machinery
- Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently in the field
- Ability to travel to multiple job sites as required
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
