Baldwin Paving Company, Inc. is currently hiring Laborers – Roadwork Paving to join our team. This is a full-time position within our Roadwork Paving division, where you will support crews in building and maintaining roadways and asphalt surfaces.

This is a full-time position operating on 8- to 12-hour shifts based on project demands. Work hours may include early mornings, evenings, nights, and weekends depending on paving schedules, weather conditions, and production needs. Regular attendance, punctuality, and the ability to work extended shifts are essential.

You’ll play a critical role supporting daily paving operations while helping ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality project delivery.

General Summary of the Position

Perform a variety of tasks involving physical labor on road construction and paving projects. You will assist paving crews, operate basic tools, and help prepare and maintain job sites.

Essential Functions include but are not limited to (other duties may be assigned as needed)
  • Performing general physical labor on roadwork paving crews.
  • Assisting with asphalt paving, spreading, shoveling, and raking materials.
  • Preparing job sites by cleaning, grading, and removing debris.
  • Supporting the setup and breakdown of paving operations.
  • Operating basic hand and power tools under supervision.
  • Loading and unloading tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Assisting equipment operators, truck drivers, and skilled crew members.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Following instructions from Foreman and adhering to all safety practices.
Work Environment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving and mechanical parts and equipment.
  • The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
  • An employee will be exposed to dust and fumes from cleaners, gasoline, diesel, exhaust, etc.
  • Employees will work outdoors and will be exposed to the weather, including extremes in heat and cold, rain, etc.
Physical Demands
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more and requires manual dexterity and strength in arms and feet to manipulate equipment controls, tools, and other items used to adjust and/or minor maintenance.
  • Will use hands, arms, back and shoulders in handling, installing, positioning, and moving items, and manipulating other objects.
  • Could be in a standing, bending, kneeling, or sitting position for long periods of time.
  • Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.

Other Requirements

Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times. Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required. Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary. Report to the assigned job site in proper attire and ready to begin work at the designated start time. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Safety Manual.

Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

Personal Protective Equipment

Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA and company policy. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position:
Coveralls, Fall Protection, Gloves, Welding Gloves, Hard Hat, Hearing Protection, Padlocks for Lockout/Tagout, Respiratory Protection, Safety Glasses, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, Welding Aprons, Welding Helmet, Welding Shield.
