Position Location and Hours
This position is located in the PARKS department at Jim R Miller Park 2245 Callaway Rd SW, Marietta GA 30008.
This position is required to work some nights and weekends.
Job Responsibilities- Perform general maintenance and repair work on buildings, equipment, grounds, and related facilities; semi-skilled manual work involving building maintenance, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall, masonry, custodial, or other maintenance projects.
- Assist in ensuring that operation, construction, and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and systems are in compliance with applicable laws, codes, regulations, and standards; conduct maintenance inspections of buildings, equipment, grounds, and facilities to identify potential problems, unsafe conditions, and needed repairs; initiate any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations.
- Perform various plumbing tasks: troubleshoot plumbing problems; install and repair plumbing fixtures; clear and unblock water lines and drains; repair steam lines, toilets, sinks, faucets, drinking fountains, etc.; solder pipes; and repair plumbing leaks.
- Perform various electrical tasks: troubleshoot electrical problems; install electrical receptacles and switches; repair electrical components; trip or replace breaker; and replace light bulbs and ballasts.
- Perform various tasks involving general building maintenance, carpentry, masonry or construction projects: paint interior and exterior surfaces, perform general concrete work, plaster applications, install sheetrock, remove, repair, and replace floor/ceiling tile, inspect, install and repair roofs, install, adjust, and repair doors and hardware, replace windows, doors, and glass panes, lubricate hardware, perform locksmith duties, and perform related maintenance and repair activities.
- Determine amount of materials needed to complete projects; provide cost projections as requested; gather equipment, tools, parts, and supplies; monitor inventory levels; and order new or replacement materials as required.
- Participate in the setup and removal of tables, chairs, stages, etc. for daily meetings, classes, and special events.
- Responsible for purchasing construction and maintenance-related items; account for delivery of related financial paperwork to administrative staff.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED required, supplemented by previous experience in building maintenance and repair.
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Physical DemandsTasks require the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and may involve lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling moderately heavy objects and materials (20‑50 pounds); may occasionally involve heavier objects and materials (up to 100 pounds).
Sensory RequirementsSome tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, taste, odor, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental FactorsPerformance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, smoke, noise extremes, and electric currents.
