Baldwin Paving Company, Inc. is currently seeking for Skilled Concrete Finishers to join our team. This will be a full-time role. This position reports to the Site Foreman.

Summary

The Skilled Concrete Finisher is responsible for placing, finishing, protecting, and repairing concrete to ensure high-quality surfaces that meet grade and finish specifications on roadway, curb, and flatwork projects.

Essential Functions
  • Smooth and finish freshly poured concrete to specified grade and finish requirements.
  • Perform all aspects of concrete finishing including screeding, floating, edging, jointing, and troweling.
  • Produce a variety of finishes including broom, trowel, and other specified textures.
  • Check surface levels, slopes, and alignment to ensure conformance with project specifications.
  • Operate hand and power tools used in finishing work, including screeds, floats, trowels, and vibratory equipment.
  • Assist with placement of concrete during pours to support proper finishing outcomes.
  • Read grade stakes and basic layout to maintain proper elevations and drainage.
  • Work closely with crew members and Foreman to coordinate timing of pours and finishing activities.
  • Perform minor patching, repair, and surface corrections as needed.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
  • Follow all safety procedures and job site protocols.
  • Assist with other job site duties as needed to support project completion.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving and mechanical parts and equipment.

The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Employees will be exposed to dust and fumes from cleaners, gasoline, diesel, exhaust, etc.

The employee will work outdoors, and will be exposed to the weather, including extremes in heat and cold, rain, etc.

Physical Demands

The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and requires manual dexterity and strength in arms and feet to manipulate equipment controls, tools, and other items used to make adjustments and/or minor maintenance. Will use hands, arms, back, and shoulders to handle, install, position, move items, and manipulate other objects.

Could be in a standing, bending, kneeling, or sitting position for long periods of time.

Other Requirements

Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times. Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required. Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary. Report to the assigned job site in proper attire and ready to begin work at the designated start time. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Safety Manual.

Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

Personal Protective Equipment

Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA and company policy. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position:
Coveralls, Fall Protection, Gloves, Welding Gloves, Hard Hat, Hearing Protection, Padlocks for Lockout/Tagout, Respiratory Protection, Safety Glasses, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, Welding Aprons, Welding Helmet, Welding Shield.

Education, Training, and Experience
  • 3+ years of concrete finishing experience required.
  • Proven ability to perform all phases of concrete finishing work independently.
  • Experience with roadway, curb and gutter, or heavy civil projects preferred.
  • Ability to read grade stakes and follow project specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of finishing techniques, tools, and materials.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

This is a full-time position.
