Diesel Mechanic Technician

Position Description

Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Master Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Marietta, Georgia.

Pay &

Incentives:

• $31.50 per hour
• Certification Bonus of $100 for each new ASE certification up to $700
• Quarterly bonus up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
• Sign‑on bonus $1,750 at 30 days and $1,750 at 90 days
• Schedule:
  
  Monday – Friday, Weekends OFF
• Hours:
  
  Second Shift 1:30 pm – 10:00 pm

We want a Maintenance Repair Mechanic to join our team working on heavy‑duty vehicles.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree preferred
• Basic tools required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine preventative maintenance, oil changes, brake and tire work
• Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems, required
• Three (3) years or more relevant work experience preferred
• All other certifications required by location
• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A preferred
• Must have at least 2 years experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment
• Knowledge of and ability to apply computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass Ryder drug test
• Pass DOT physical
• Pass Ryder road test
• Pass Ryder background and motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Performs standard and preventive maintenance
• Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable
• Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision
• Replaces defective components as instructed
• Works unsupervised on most tasks
• Performs facility maintenance duties
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
• Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation
• Works in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
• Acts as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
• Demonstrates ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents
• Other support duties as required to support operations, including service island support
• Completes SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT
  220)
• Completes 2 of the OEM online diagnostic scan tool software courses as required by location fleet mix within 365 days
