Position Overview
This position is classified as an essential employee and located in the Facilities Management Department. You may be required to work non‑standard work hours for on‑call or during inclement weather or other emergency activities. The schedule will be between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities- Perform general maintenance and repair work on buildings, equipment, grounds, and related facilities (building maintenance, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall, masonry, custodial, etc.).
- Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable laws, codes, regulations, and standards; conduct maintenance inspections; identify problems; initiate corrective actions.
- Perform various plumbing tasks (troubleshoot plumbing problems; install and repair fixtures; clear drains; repair steam lines, toilets, sinks, faucets, drinking fountains; solder pipes; fix leaks).
- Perform various electrical tasks (troubleshoot electrical problems; install receptacles and switches; repair components; replace breakers; replace bulbs and ballasts).
- Perform various tasks involving general building maintenance, carpentry, masonry or construction projects (paint surfaces; general concrete work, plaster, sheetrock; tile work; roof inspection, installation, repair; door & hardware work; window replacement; lubrication; locksmith duties; other related repair activities).
- Determine material needs; provide cost projections; gather equipment, tools, parts; monitor inventory; order new or replacement materials.
- Participate in setup and removal of tables, chairs, stages for daily meetings, classes and special events.
- Responsible for purchasing construction and maintenance related items; account for delivery of related financial paperwork.
- Account for proper use of County‑issued credit card per guidelines, upload receipts, online signoff, monthly reconciliation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required; supplemented by previous experience in building maintenance and repair.
- Valid Driver's License.
Tasks require the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and may involve lifting up to 100 pounds.
Sensory Requirements- Ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades, sounds, taste, odor, depth, texture, and visual cues; ability to communicate orally.
- Exposure to adverse conditions (dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, smoke, noise extremes, electric currents).
