Position Information
The purpose of this classification is to provide supervision and case management to youth placed on local jurisdiction probation and/or other categories of court-ordered conditions of supervision.
This position requires working a flexible schedule, i.e., some evenings, some weekends, and/or via a rotating on-call schedule that requires phone accessibility.
Essential Functions
Provides probationary supervision for a caseload of juvenile offenders; reviews court records and court orders: determines obligations of offenders; conducts intake interviews; collects and records case intake data; obtained school records and obtains family social history; explains conditions of probation and related programs and the consequences of probation violation; installs ankle monitors and tracks youth utilizing tracking software; performs drug screening;
transports juveniles as required; prepares reports for use in screening and placement of youth; maintains regular communication with probationers, parents/guardians; and closes cases or discharges juvenile from supervision per case time limit.
Formulates case plans for offenders: makes home, school, and/or field visits; establishes goals and sanctions; secures court ordered or sanctioned services with partnering agencies; assists youth with making amends with victim; monitors compliance with completion of restitution; makes referrals regarding counseling, community service, tutoring, mentoring, and work readiness training; and monitors clients' school and work attendance and participation in resource programs.
Performs court officer/reporter duties: schedules, prepares, and presents cases within mandated time limits; provides notification to juveniles and families of upcoming hearings; identifies witnesses, victims, and other relevant individuals needed to appear in court; prepares and executes subpoenas, summonses, and other legal documents; provides testimony in court; conducts case related research; and makes recommendation for dispensation of cases.
Identifies community resources designed to meet the needs of children and families: recruits, screens, and matches probated juvenile offenders to participate in approved programs; screens offenders for willingness and appropriateness; refers parents to community outreach and social service programs as needed; and coordinates with other agencies to assist families with obtaining healthcare and medical coverage.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Criminal Justice, Social Work, or related field required; supplemented by one year experience in probation case management, criminal justice or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Licenses and Certifications
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Physical Abilities
Tasks require the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds).
Sensory Requirements
Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors
Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as violence, or rude/irate customers.
