Overview
You will be the Software Engineer Staff for the Simulation and Systems Labs (SSL) Systems Engineering team which is responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining aircraft simulation systems and subsystems utilized for aircraft capability integration and weapons systems development from concept design through post delivery support.
Responsibilities- Design and implement high‑performance simulation software components.
- Develop and maintain automated test suites and verification frameworks.
- Integrate subsystems and ensure seamless data flow across the simulation environment.
- Create aerodynamics, flight control dynamics, propulsion, pneumatics, and/or hydraulics characteristics to create high fidelity aircraft models.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes.

Basic Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline.
- Real‑time simulation and model software development experience.
- Experience developing software in C++ and/or Python.
- Collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
- Experience with aerodynamics, flight control dynamics, propulsion, hydraulics, pneumatics, and other aircraft systems’ characteristics to create high fidelity aircraft models.
- Deep experience in avionics data bus and communication protocols, including MIL STD 1553B, ARINC
429, discrete signaling, Ethernet (UDP/TCP), and serial interfaces (RS 232/422/485) for accurate signal messaging and system interoperability. - Ability to design innovative software data flow architectures that optimize performance, scalability, and maintainability across simulation components.
- Experience developing software in Java.
- Experience developing software in Ada.
- Version control experience with Gitlab.
- Experience with Jenkins.
- Experience with software test pipelines.
- Linux operating system experience.
- Advanced degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong understanding in aerodynamics, flight control dynamics, propulsion, hydraulics, pneumatics, and other aircraft systems.
- Integration planning experience.
This position requires a Secret clearance and US citizenship.
