Role OverviewThe role of Recreation Assistant is a great position to carry out and be involved in the full range of leisure activities. The role is continually customer‑facing, offering rewarding opportunities. Meeting new people, variation in both activities and learning provides an exciting daily work experience, and the Assistant performs duties at both wet and dry sites.
Primary Objectives- Ensure the safety and enjoyment of all users of the Leisure Centre.
- Participate in the management of all aspects of the Centre’s daily activities.
- Maintain facilities at the highest levels of cleanliness and comfort.
- Assist the Duty Manager in controlling and securing the facility, patrolling appropriate areas and ensuring equipment is stored safely.
- Be aware of all Health and Safety issues and continually implement and assess procedures, reporting unsafe practices.
- Ensure all parts of the Centre are safe and secure when not in use.
- Guide, care for and assist all Leisure Centre customers.
- Facilitate a friendly yet efficient relationship with Centre users.
- Work as part of a team to achieve Centre objectives and usage targets.
- Innovate ideas and take action to increase usage of the Leisure Centre.
- Cover duties of other staff members as required.
- Undertake any other duties to assist in running the Leisure Centre.
- Portray a positive image of the Centre by wearing the provided uniform.
- Contribute to the Centre’s marketing and promotional activities, including social media content, advertisements, marketing materials, and assist in developing and implementing marketing campaigns.
The post holder should have a good general education and a desire to achieve a leisure management qualification. Ideally, the applicant will possess a current first aid qualification and the RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.

Some Recreation Assistant positions may be classed as a regulated post and therefore may require a DBS Disclosure. Where the individual does not already hold a DBS Disclosure, a DBS check will be required.

Reporting To: Operations Manager
Grade: Operational
Annual Leave: 28 days paid annual leave per year (prorated)
Pension: NEST Auto Enrolment after 3 months service
Notice Period: 1 Month
