Truck Driver
Safety is our top priority. The Truck Driver moves material by operating a semi‑truck, roll‑offs, van trailers, and open‑top trailers to customer yards, transporting fully loaded containers and returning to pick up empty ones. Drivers must conduct themselves professionally with customers, follow all DOT regulations and in‑yard rules, wear seat belts at all times, and maintain camera visibility.
Job Duties- Load and unload trucks hauling scrap metal; end dump required.
- Inspect and determine metal grade for inventory tracking.
- Perform daily DOT operations and safety inspections.
- Communicate with office and customers to determine commodities to load.
- Work independently when driving scrap metal.
- Assist customers with their needs and resolve problems.
- Collaborate with yard employees to ensure a safe working environment.
- Maintain normal daily operation: refuel, lubricate, clean cooling system, and housekeeping.
- Clean up work area at the end of shift and keep it neat and orderly.
- Ensure regular attendance and punctuality.
- Organize materials to maximize space efficiency.
- Dispose of waste materials appropriately.
- Conduct cleanup inspections to ensure completion and maintain hygiene.
- Minimum 3 years of CDL driving experience with consistent job history; end dump required.
- Pass a medical DOT physical and drug test.
- Pass a background check and have a clean MVR with no recent violations; consent to a clearing house.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent foreign education preferred.
- Bilingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus.
- Strong communication skills, ability to understand written or oral directions, and basic math proficiency.
Work Environment:
Scrap metal recycling and shredder yard. Equipment includes trucks up to 18‑wheelers, roll‑offs, hydraulic truck tilt and lift operations, and box containers. Physical demands are light to moderate; tasks involve steady standing during machine rocking, climbing fixed ladders, repetitive gripping motions, and maintaining hearing, vision, and other sensory capacities.
