Material Handler, Warehouse Associate
Job Overview
This position is vital to the daily operations of the Water System as it performs inventory management and material distribution processes at a water reclamation facility. It maintains stock inventory levels of warehouse items, ensures items delivered are the correct quantity and appropriate price, keeps logbooks of items received, assigns proper locations in the warehouse, and works with vendors to obtain quotes and submit supply orders.
Vendor payments are processed once inventory is received and verified, and follow‑up is performed on missing items or delayed deliveries.
- Utilizes an inventory management system to maintain stock inventory levels of warehouse items, including ensuring items delivered are the correct quantity and the appropriate price, and maintains logbooks of items received, assigning proper locations in the warehouse.
- Types, prepares, proofreads, and/or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, lists, logs, notices, schedules, calendars, attendance records, check requests, purchase orders, requisitions, budget documents, contracts, agreements, statistical reports, incident/accident reports, work order requests, agendas, minutes, motions, ordinances, resolutions, inventory records, charts, graphs, spreadsheets, or other documents.
- Determines the amount of materials needed to complete projects, provides cost projections and project coordination as needed, monitors inventory levels, and initiates requests for new or replacement materials as required.
- Works with vendors to obtain quotes and submit supply orders to management; ensures vendor payments are processed once inventory is received and verified; follows up with vendors on missing items or delayed deliveries.
- Assists with the development of budget requests for the area of assignment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required, supplemented by vocational or technical training in a related area and one year of experience in inventory management.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
- Tasks require the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, with greater emphasis on climbing and balancing, but typically also involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20‑50 pounds); may occasionally involve heavier objects and materials (up to 100 pounds).
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, odor, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
