- Participate in bedside shift report and handoff.
- Perform hourly rounding.
- Obtain required patient assessments and reassessments per nursing policy.
- Develop and revise a plan of care and teaching plan based on patient and family needs.
- Coordinate timely, adequate teaching to patient, family, and significant others for discharge; document appropriately.
- Implement and monitor nursing interventions; consistently document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in Meditech within required timeframe.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounding and collaborate to identify patient needs.
- Recognize changes in patient condition and communicate with physicians using SBAR.
- Effectively manage patient care and delegate appropriately based on patient needs and caregiver skill.
- Utilize interpersonal communication to facilitate productive relationships with team members.
- Facilitate positive and caring relationships based on trust and empathy.
- Promote a positive patient experience.
- Seek help from appropriate resources as needed.
- Maintain current knowledge of hospital policies and practices.
- Clarify unclear communication among team members.
- Use appropriate channels of authority in communication.
- Collect data related to physical, psychological, and psychosocial health status.
- Perform admission, handoff, transfer, and discharge procedures.
- Complete daily nurse leader rounds.
- Perform shift checks as assigned.
- Assist with completion of chart audits for nursing documentation as required.
- Assign staff based on skill level and acuity of patient assignment.
- Manage throughput on the unit and adjust assignments as needed.
- Report problems regarding performance, safety, staffing, or behavior to the unit manager.
- Assist with conflict resolution in the absence of the nursing manager in collaboration with the house supervisor.
- Model positive behaviors with staff, including integrity, fairness, and consistency.
- Act as agent for change for the department.
- Serve as super user for incident report completion.
- Current licensure in the State of Ohio (or WV license if working in WV) as a Registered Nurse.
- BLS required upon hire.
- ACLS within one year of employment.
- Verbal, clerical, numerical, and manual dexterity.
- Color vision and near visual acuity.
- Proper lifting techniques and body mechanics.
Salary will be based on education, experience, and tenure, with consideration of internal equity when job offers are extended.
