Job Summary

Full-time – Nights (7pm-7am)

Position Overview

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high‑quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and are supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  • Exemplary Practice and Outcomes
    • Perform the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation) using evidence‑based practice, analytical and critical thinking, and individualized care coordination.
    • Provide relationship‑based, patient‑centered care consistent with population‑specific characteristics and cultural diversity.
    • Partner with patients and significant others to set goals, conduct bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, and patient teaching, keeping patient goals at the focus of the plan of care.
    • Practice using current clinical practice standards.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration
    • Coordinate the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care that promotes the professional care delivery model.
    • Demonstrate fiscal responsibility and support recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members.
    • Participate in performance improvement, research utilization, and shared governance at all levels.
  • Professional Development and Initiative
    • Complete all initial and ongoing professional competency assessment, mandatory education, and population‑specific education.
    • Serve as a preceptor and/or mentor for professional nurses and staff or students of all disciplines.
  • Evidence‑Based Practice and Research
    • Promote evidence‑based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement, including value analysis in decision‑making.
    • Uphold system policies, legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements, ensuring compliance with TJC Patient Safety Goals and Wellstar Health Systems safety absolutes.
    • Participate in data collection and address relevant clinical questions through consultation with experts and evidence.
  • Resources and Support
    • Proactively plan for care of patients across the continuum while providing direct patient care.
    • Participate in development of protocols and procedures to achieve best‑practice outcomes, such as reducing readmission rates and adverse events.
    • Support efficient and effective use of human and material resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Required

Minimum Education
  • Associates Nursing or Diploma (Nurse) Nursing
  • Bachelor’s Nursing – Preferred
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s)
  • RN – Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN‑COMPACT – RN – Multi‑state Compact
  • BLS – Basic Life Support or ARC‑BLS – American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS‑I – Basic Life Support – Instructor
Additional License(s) and Certification(s)
  • None specified
Required Minimum Experience
  • Less than 1 year.
  • Completion of accredited/approved school of nursing with required clinical hours.
  • Direct patient care experience – Preferred.
Required Minimum Skills
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Optimize use of technology to support clinical care; basic computer skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and customer‑service skills.
  • Function in a fast‑paced environment and respond to emergencies decisively, composed, and respectfully.
  • Excellent time‑management, evidence‑based practice, and analytical/critical thinking skills.
