Material Handler

The Material Handler provides shipping, receiving, storage, and order fulfillment services for finished goods, inventory, materials, supplies, parts, and equipment at the assigned facility. This role ensures that products are accurately processed, stored, and shipped in accordance with established procedures and customer requirements, while maintaining a high level of quality and on-time performance.

Responsibilities
  • Pick, pack, sort, arrange, count, and store items for storage and shipment in accordance with established procedures and customer requirements.
  • Process orders accurately to ensure customers receive the correct products within the requested time frames.
  • Receive materials and finished goods daily, verifying that the quality, type, and quantity are correct and that appropriate documentation, such as packing lists, is present.
  • Safely operate distribution and material handling equipment, including powered industrial trucks and forklifts, at various heights as required.
  • Follow shipping, receiving, and inventory control procedures to maintain accurate stock levels and documentation.
  • Use basic computer skills to navigate ERP systems, Outlook, and shipping software to support daily warehouse operations.
  • Understand and interpret team metrics to support performance goals and identify deviations from accepted practices.
  • Maintain strong attendance and be ready to start work on time each day, supporting production and fulfillment schedules.
  • Perform highly repetitive warehouse tasks, including walking, standing, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing throughout the shift.
  • Handle packaged hazardous materials in accordance with safety guidelines and company procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with internal personnel at equivalent levels, demonstrating effective communication and customer service skills.
  • Participate in equipment training through one-on-one instruction and on-the-job training to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Adapt to varying schedules, shifts, hours, and overtime as needed to support production demands and meet customer needs.
  • Support a clean, organized, and climate-controlled warehouse environment by following housekeeping and safety standards.
Essential Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Minimum of 0–2 years of related experience in material handling, manufacturing, or logistics.
  • 1–2 years of manufacturing experience with demonstrated product assembly preferred.
  • Proven ability to consistently and independently follow policies, procedures, instructions, and production schedules.
  • Ability to safely operate powered industrial trucks and forklifts, including at various heights.
  • Basic computer skills, including the ability to learn and use ERP systems, Outlook, and shipping software.
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 35 pounds and routinely lift, push, and pull up to 25 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in warehouse environments with varying temperatures, including room temperature, cold-room, and freezer-room conditions.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills to interact effectively with internal team members.
  • Reliability and readiness to start work on time daily, with strong attendance performance.
  • Ability to recognize deviations from accepted practices and escalate or correct issues as needed.

  • Experience in logistics within a life science or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Comfort working with packaged hazardous materials in accordance with safety procedures.
  • Ability to understand and interpret team metrics to support continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to learn new systems and equipment through one-on-one and on-the-job training.
  • Flexibility to work any shift with advance notice of shift changes and to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to perform highly repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy and quality.
  • Occasional local travel as required to support operational needs.
